The number of crimes committed in Moscow by non-Muscovites during 4 months of this year has increased by 30.2 percent as compared with the same period of the last year. According to the information, which has become available to RIA Novosti from the capital's Main Department of the Interior (MDI) , their share was 36.3 percent of all cleared crimes. "Taking into account the fact that a lot of such crimes are latent, their actual number is even greater", - said an MDI spokesman and underlined that "more than a third of crimes and thefts and about half of holdups and robberies are committed by non-Muscovites". A total of 7,991 non-Muscovites have been called to account this year in Moscow. Each fifth minor, who has been brought to responsibility for a crime in the city, is a person from other town. - O- (VAS/ ) 10/05/01 09:38
