Forest named after the Putins

The President’s popularity is growing in Russia. In Moscow, as has already been reported, festivities are being scheduled for May 7th to mark the 2nd anniversary of the second Russian President’s inauguration. In Altai, a mountainous region in south Siberia, as became known today, a forest named after the Putins is to emerge soon. A forest plantation will appear at the devastated area where in 1997 terrible forest fires were raging. Tomorrow, volunteers will go to Altai to help restore renowned pine forests. The action is organized by the World Wild Life Foundation. Restoration of 1 hectare of the forest costs th foundation $300. 100 people take part in the action. It has been agreed that each hectare of the resored forest will be named after some project participant or a sponsor. Since the project has been supported by President Putin’s wife, Lyudmila, one of the hectares of the restored forest will be named after the Putins.
