In Great Britain most of supporters of the ruling Labour Party come out against the Washington plans to deploy a national anti-missile defence (NMD) system. This is said in the press release with the results of the public opinion poll, received by the London bureau of RIA Novosti. According to the document, 72 per cent of the pollees who supported the Party headed by Prime-Minister of the country Tony Blair declared that they were against the US programme of Star Wars. As many as 73 per cent of the pollees hold the view that deployment of an NMD system would provoke a new arms race. This opinion is shared by 71 per cent of the supporters of the Liberal-Democratic Party and 41 per cent of those who support the Tory.
