Siberian utility workers drink 30km of transmission power line away

A couple of weeks ago, the Krasnoyarkenergo power utility company started to vigorously switch off power supply to the defaulters. A struggle between the company and its reseller intermediaries resulted in 3 villages being left without electricity at a zero temperature. So, law-abiding citizens, who had regularly paid their utility bills, proved the victims of the corporate account settlings. In the meantime, Krasnoyarskenergo has once more caused a stir. Workers at the Krasnoyarskenergo “drank” 30 kilometres of the operating transmission power line away, Yuri Ivanov, the local administration chief has told the RIA Press-Line news agency. According to Mr. Ivanov, the power engineers declined the local authorities’ offer on guarding the sites, so the wire eventually disappeared. Criminal proceedings were launched. In the course of the investigation it turned out that the wire was dismantled and exchanged for alcohol by Krasnoyarskenergo’s workers themselves.
