Government Elaborates A Number Of New Federal Programs To Develop Electronic Systems

The Government has been elaborating a number of Federal special purpose programs in the sphere of development of electronic systems in Russia. The deputy minister of economic development and trade Yury Beletsky said that they included "Electronic Russia", "Electronic Trade", and "Development of Single Educational Information Environment". Speaking at the international conference "Russia on its way to new economics: business and the Internet", Beletsky pointed out that Russia had a potential to become one of the key elements in the global information space. However, according to Beletsky, it would be necessary to form a legal basis for the information technologies, which is currently inadequate, to implement the said programs. The deputy minister has called on businessmen to support efforts of the cabinet of ministers to implement the special purpose programs. The head of the information development department of the Ministry for Economic Development Sergey Bayev has referred to the problem, which stands in the way of the electronic infrastructure's development in Russia. First of all, this is a misbalance of the intellectual potential and its demand".
