Russia To Pay $117 Mln To International Monetary Fund

On Tuesday, Russia will return 117 million dollars as part of its debt payments to the International Monetary Fund, RIA Novosti was told at the Russian Finance Ministry. The forthcoming debt payment will be the second, and final one in April, the ministry explained. It will be made in strict compliance with the payment schedule. The ministry said the money for the purpose had already been set aside. The payment will be made in Euros and Canadian dollars. Since the year began, Russia has already made seven payments to the Fund, totalling about 0.5 billion dollars. As far as this particular debt category is concerned, Russia will pay about 2.1 billion dollars in 2001, all in all. As of January 1, 2001, Russia's debt to the International Monetary Fund amounted to 8.8 billion dollars. -O- (kos/kom) 23/04/01 18:44
