Mikhail Gorbachev to meet with George W.Bush and Colin Powell in Washington

Mikhail Gorbachev is expected to meet with US President George W.Bush, Secretary of State Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice, the US president's national security adviser, in Washington D.C. later in the day, reported a source in the delegation accompanying the Soviet ex-president on his trip around the USA. Earlier, Gorbachev told journalists that the purpose of "upcoming meetings in the White House, the State Department and Congress" was to discuss Russian-US relations, which, according to the former president of the Soviet Union, needed "a new agenda" envisaging preservation of all positive things achieved between the two countries. On Sunday, Gorbachev talked to journalists on board the legendary presidential yacht Sequoia during a charity event in support of the Raisa Gorbachev International Memorial Fund and the Russian Centre for Combating Leukemia among Children.
