Peruvian fighter aircraft brings down private plane with US nationals on board

A fighter aircraft belonging to the Air Force of Peru has brought down a private airplane carrying American missionaries. As a result of the shooting, 2 people have died, including a 7-month old baby. The wounded pilot managed to land the airplane. Yet another 2 persons were wounded. The incident occurred yesterday, on April 20th over the jungle, 700 miles north-east of Lima, the Peruvian capital, according to Interfax news agency. The fighter aircraft was sent to intercept an unidentified airplane which was suspected of transporting drugs. Since the suspected airplane’s crew failed to reply to the signals, a Peruvian pilots proceeded as he was supposed to and opened fire.
