Putin Greets 95th Anniversary Of State Duma

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a greeting to the participants in the international scientific-practical conference 'Legislative and Representative Power: History and Modernity". The conference is devoted to the 95th anniversary of the first State Duma. The presidential greeting wishes successful and fruitful work. Despite the fact that the first Duma was doomed to exist not for a long time, the beginning of its activities nevertheless represents an attempt of democratic renovation which is a landmark event in the political history of the 20th century, runs the message. "The lessons of the first State Duma turned to be of use when large-scale changes in the building of a civil society began," notes the head of state.
