The Fifth International Festival Skif Is Opening In Petersburg

The Fifth International Festival SKIF is opening in St. Petersburg on Friday. As the press attache of the festival, Orlana Zapolskaya, reported, it will be the festival of music, theatre, acoustic sculpture and computer designing. The press attache said that the principle of forming a music repertoire had changed substantially compared with the four previous festivals. Much attention will be paid to the so-called "world music" at this festival, apart from academic avant-guard, jazz and progressive rock. A special programme will be devoted to modern music of Scandinavia. Modern computer technologies will be shown also in a separate programme. Master classes and seminars will be held within the programme of the festival. Performers from China, India, Japan, Africa, Europe and America are expected to take part in it. The International Festivals SKIF are held by the Sergei Kurekhin Charity Fund which was founded in 1996 after the musician's tragic death. Many well-known musicians and cultural figures from all parts of the world took part in these festivals.
