Prominent Siberian researcher charged with espionage - 18 April, 2001 - News

A prominent researcher from Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, is charged with high treason in the form of espionage. This was disclosed to RIA-NOVOSTI here today at the press center of the FSB (Federal Security Service) Krasnoyarsk regional division. The researcher's name is still being withheld for security reasons. According to the press center's officials, he works as a research associate for the Krasnoyarsk technical university's thermo-physics center. That researcher is charged with divulging secret space-technology information to an unspecified country in line with mercenary considerations, press-center officials added. Experts claim that the unauthorized disclosure of such information is detrimental to Russia's international security, also enabling other countries to spend much less time and money on the development of new spacecraft.
