Parliament to work out specific proposals to strengthen economy

President Vladimir Putin of Russia met with Yegor Stroyev, head of the Federation Council, in the Kremlin on Tuesday. They reached an agreement to work out specific proposals on the part of the parliament to further strengthen the country's economy, the speaker of the upper house told journalists upon completion of the meeting. According to him, the meeting focused on issues related to fuel-and-energy and agro-industrial complexes of Russia, as well as machine-building. "We indicated the necessity to attract society's attention to settling important issues capable to improve people's living standards, their social status," Mr Stroyev said. According to him, "the politics alone won't do." In Mr Stroyev's opinion, currently it is important to solve the other issue, i.e., what's to be done to create jobs, strengthen the economy and raise the power authority. "We're unable to settle these issues through any political associations," Yegor Stroyev concluded.
