Russian and Belarussian leaders advise Pavel Borodin to undergo medical treatment before returning to work

The Presidents of Russia and Belarus advised State Secretary of the Union State of Russia and Belarus Pavel Borodin to undergo medical treatment before getting back to work. As spokesman for Pavel Borodin Ivan Makushok said on Monday, the Presidents had "wished Pavel Borodin good health and asked him to spare himself". Citing the telephone talk of Pavel Borodin with President of Russia Vladimir Putin which was held last weekend, as well as with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the press secretary said that Borodin was undergoing medical examination. According to him, doctors asked the people from Borodin's surroundings not to make, within the next three days, any forecasts about his possible return to work. Makushok recalled that after the nearly three-month stay in custody Pavel Borodin has problems with diabetes and stenocardia. State Secretary of the Union State of Russia and Belarus Pavel Borodin was arrested in New York in January 2001, and at the beginning of April was extradited to Switzerland where he was charged with money laundering. On April 13 the Prosecutor's Office of Geneva allowed to let Borodin out on a bail of 5 million Swiss francs (just over 3 million dollars). On April 14 Paver Borodin returned to Moscow.
