Moscow and Chisinau to sign cooperation declaration

Upon completion of his forthcoming Moscow talks with senior Russian government officials, Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin will sign a declaration on cooperation between his country and Russia. Ruslan Pronitsky, press attache of the Moldovan Embassy to Russia, says Voronin is due in Moscow April 16, for a two-day routine visit. According to Pronitsky, at his talks with the Russian top the Moldovan President will focus on political issues. The sides will also consider prospects for signing a fundamental treaty between Russia and Moldova. Neither will the upcoming Russo-Moldovan negotiations leave out the problem of energy supplies to Moldova. Specifically, this is going to be a major subject of discussion at Voronin's talks with top management of the Russian natural gas giant Gazprom and with Moscow-based representatives of ITERA Co. Bilateral economic cooperation will also be prominent on the agenda. Last year's trade turnover between Russia and Moldova totaled 500 million dollars, reports the embassy press attache. "And we will make efforts to increase it further," he assured.
