Russian Buddhists stand against the Taleban’s acts of vandalism in Afghanistan

The Buddhists of autonomous republics of Russia – Tuva, Buryatia, Khakasia, Kalmykia, Mountain Altai have proposed to the Russian government and to the President of Russia to elaborate the Declaration of Rights of religious and ethnic minorities of Eurasia –“Eurasian Charter”. We would remind to you that Buddhism is widespread in the republics, mentioned above. According to Regions.ru, the main principle of the Charter is supposed to be the principle of “akhins” (“unviolence”, “lack of violence”). The Buddhists were indignant at barbarian actions of Taleban in Afghanistan, who had destroyed the ancient statues of Buddha. Moreover, they were alarmed by the persecution of Tibet lamas and Buddhists in Tibet.
