US-Russian tensions: Russian foreign minister thinks more scrutiny needed before reacting

Foreign Minster of the Russian Foreign Igor Ivanov declared today that it is necessary to study the situation with a scandal in the USA carefully before making official statements. The Ministry will probably make an official announcement on the planned meeting between US officials and the so-called foreign minister of the rebel Chechen administration Ilyas Akhmadov today. In addition, the ministry may comment on plans of the US administration to expel a group of Russian diplomats from the USA, the Head of the Russian foreign department reported to RBC. It is worth mentioning that at least six Russian diplomats were labeled "Persona non Grata" — banned from American soil — by the United States yesterday. Four of them have already left for Russia. Another two are to leave the USA soon. The CBS US television company reported with a reference to its source in the US Department of State that the US administration intended to expel about 50 Russian diplomats accusing them of spying. Russia has not decided on its measures in response to this incident yet.
