FBI director visits Georgia and regards this state as an important partner

FBI Director Louis J. Freeh pays a visit to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, one of CIS states. On Wednesday, Louis J. Freeh met with Georgian parliament's speaker Zurab Zhvania and interior minister Lieutenant-General Kakha Targamadze. In the course of the talks Zurab Zhvania and the FBI Director discussed the issues of cooperation between FBI and Georgian law-enforcement agencies, and the assistance to be rendered to develop Georgian investigation structures. After the talks with Zurab Zhvania, Louis J. Freeh made a record in the Book for Honoured Guests of the Georgian parliament, RIA Novosti announces. The visit of FBI Director Louis J. Freeh to Georgia is certainly of great political importance. It proved that the new U.S. administration looks on Georgia as an important partner, stated Mr Zhvania commenting on the results of the meeting with Mr Freeh. Mr Zhvania believes that Russia should not show its negative reaction to the FBI Director's visit to Georgia.
