NIKOLAI SHAKLEIN: THE VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE IN THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT BE CARRIED THROUGH

As the PRAVDA.Ru correspondent was told by the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the State Organisation, the chance of voting no confidence in the government is small. "The communist faction will certainly vote "in favour", as they initiated this matter. The agrarians or some other faction will probably join them in, but the number of these votes, I think, will not be sufficient. The stand of the "Unity" will be determined by the position of the presidential administration, the members of this faction will, most likely, vote "in favour" to the extent needed for the vote not to be carried through. The outcome of the vote is in the way this question is formulated. And though there are claims to put to the government, and many of its actions are inefficient, there are no grounds to vote "no confidence". But, as it seems to me, the very situation will make the cabinet of ministers think. If the first vote results in "no confidence" being carried, Putin, I think, will not accept the resignation of the government. Most likely, he will not do it when deputies make the second attempt to vote "no confidence". Therefore, as I see it, during the second vote, having in mind the possibility of the State Duma being dissolved, there will not be many wishing to vote no confidence in the government. However, it is too early yet to make any forecasts."
