Georgian vessel, laden in Ukraine, was carrying weapons

Georgia’s Anastasia dry-cargo ship belonging to the port of Batumi was detained earlier this week in Las-Palmas in Canary Islands. Spanish customs workers found aboard the ship 636 tons of weapons and explosives manufactured by CIS standard. The cargo had not been declared, so it was considered contraband by the Spanish customs. Anastasia, loaded in Ukraine, was bound for Angola. The captain did not let port worker onboard for a formal check, which aroused suspicion.
