Macedonia started yesterday to pull troops and armoured vehicles to the border with Kosovo. Clashes using artillery have been in progress here for already several days between Macedonian frontier guards and Kosovo separatists. Macedonia had earlier applied to NATO to step up patrolling of the Kosovo border and prevent Kosovo militants from penetrating the Macedonian territory. But the NATO replied that border patrolling was not included in kfor’s duty list. By the way, the Kosovo area bordering Macedonia is within the responsibility of US peacekeepers. It looks like Macedonia is starting to solve the problem of Kosovo militants by its own means. If the troops and armoured vehicles now being pulled to the border are brought into action, the Balkans will see another was breaking out.
