Energy crisis hits Russia’s famous Black See resort

Because of a failure in the Novokubansk - Sochi power transmission line yesterday, all festivities timed to today’s Fatherland Defender’s Day have been cancelled. Schools and kindergartens are closed. An emergency team has been set up to help restore power supply of the city. The power transmission line was damaged by strong winds measuring up to 6 points and by a heavy snowfall, according to RIA Novosti. The city authorities have managed to reach an agreement of a temporary power supply from the neighbouring republic of Abkhazia. Sochi households still lack light, water and warmth.
