Sergei Snegov: A tale of how the Chechen administration has been moving to Grozny, but has not moved

Another date was set today for the Moscow-backed Chechen administration’s removal from Gudermes, where it has temporarily been stationed, to Grozny. This time, the administration’s incumbent chief Mr. Kadyrov warned that those who failed to move by April 1st, would be sacked. The problem, however, is – and has always been - that in Grozny there are no appropriate buildings left. According to Ivan Babichev, Chechnya’s military commandant, the administration will be housed in the centre of the city of Grozny where a “preparatory work is going on to reconstruct most suitable buildings.”
