the Mir: To scuttle or not to scuttle?

The State Duma’s council is to consider today the question of whether to scuttle the Mir space platform raised again by the communist faction, Gennadi Zyuganov, Russia’s Communist Party chief, has said. The proposal was initiated at yesterday’s meeting of Russia’s People’s and Patriotic Union, radio Echo Moskvy reports. According to Mr. Zyuganov, the document calls on the President to urgently form a state commission to avert the Mir’s scuttling scheduled on March this year and to consider its further operation.
