U.S. administration welcomes Ted Turner’s plans over Media-Most

The George W. Bush administration supports the intention of television magnate Ted Turner to purchase shares of the Media-MOST company, Richard Boucher, spokesman for the US Department of State is quoted as saying. According to him, there is nothing extraordinary in this, because the USA, firstly, supports the freedom of the press and, secondly, supports the interests of American companies. At the same time, Richard Boucher expressed the White House's concern about what is happening with the Media-MOST. “The American administration proceeds from the fact that the preservation of an independent press in Russia is very important for the future of Russia and the state of Russian democracy," Mr. Boucher is quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.
