BLAST IN AN APARTMENT BLOCK IN MOSCOW

Nobody has reportedly been hurt as a result of the explosion which occurred on Tuesday evening in a five-storey apartment block in the Northern Administrative District of Russia’s capital city. At first sight, it looked like the explosion may have been caused by fire in the elevator’s transformer. But later, the staffers at the Federal Security Service and the rescue team who arrived in the scene established that a home-made explosive device was placed in the elevator pit. The staffers of the law-enforcement bodies evacuated all the affected residents and searched for more explosive devices till three hours in the morning. According to RIA Novosti, nothing was found as a result, and the residents were finally allowed to return to their apartments. The elevator pit was badly damaged, windows smashed and doors torn off.
