Russia’s economy to be de-bureaucratized

President Valdimir Putin has ordered the government to prepare and submit to the State Duma a package of bills concerning the de-bureaucratization of the economy. The order was delivered to Prime Minister Kasyanov yesterday at the time of Mr. Putin’s meeting with representatives of Russia’s big business. First of all, it is about 4 bills concerning the easing of watchdogs’ activity, the simplifying of incorporation and license issuance, and also bettering of the investment climate. The president also said that 2 more bills are to be added here concerning the liberalization of currency regulations. A favourable investment climate will never gain a foothold in Russia, if the potential investor is unable not only import money, but also manage it in this country, President Putin is quoted by RIA Novosti as saying. The bills in question are expected to be prepared within 3 weeks.
