US: powerful radars in Norway and Aleutian Islands nothing to do with anti-missile defence system

Both radars have been handed over to Norway for the purposes of space communication and are not and never become part of the American anti-missile defence, James Collins, US ambassador to Russia, said on Tuesday at a meeting with Andrei Nokolayev, head of the State Duma’s defence committee. US has thereby reacted to Russia’s concern over a possible use of the two radars, located in Vardo (Norway) and the Shemia Island (Aleutian Islands), in developing of the US anti-missile defence or a rocket attack early warning system. On his part, Mr. Nikolayev, according to RIA Novosti, would like to have the chance of visiting the sites in question by a delegation of the Russian Duma deputies.
