Chlorine outfall in Khabarovsk

An outfall of 50kg of chlorine has taken place at the Khabarovsk-1 water-supply station in the far east of Russia. Officials at the Emergency Situations Ministry’s far-eastern unit say that a cylinder’s depressurising caused the emission. The contaminated area is estimated at 10 to 100 metres. To precipitate chlorine vapour, a water screen was used Interfax reports. No one is reported hurt, but a couple of workers were sent to hospital for a medical check.
