NATO TROOPS ACCUSED OF USING CHILD PROSTITUTES

German troops from the Kfor contingent stationed in Macedonia have been accused of using prostitutes aged 16 and under in the town of Tetovo. A brothel owner from this town stated that the number of brothels in the region has mushroomed since the arrival of the Kfor troops and a 16-year-old Bulgarian prostitute confirmed that there were younger girls than her being used by the soldiers. She said that she had “hundreds of German soldiers” as her clients. A German Defence Ministry spokesman said: “We have no means of responding to possible illegal activities in civilian areas or of launching an inquiry into the allegations. This is purely a matter for the local authorities”. The German Defence Ministry in Berlin stated that these reports were “unconfirmed” but in doing so, confirmed that the reports exist. These reports follow the disgraceful behaviour by US soldiers stationed in Kosovo earlier this year. It will be remembered that Albanian girls were tortured, kidnapped and raped. A US Army sergeant was arrested and court-martialled for these incidents.
