Mabitex case brought to a close

Russian general procurator’s office has ruled that the so-called Mabitex case related to the irregularities at the Russian President’s former property management be closed. The criminal proceedings are being closed due to the lack of corpus delicti, Ruslan Tamayev, chief investigator into the affair, said. Russia’s top officials have been involved here as witnesses, including the Kremlin’s former chief property manager Pavel Borodin (who currently works as State Secretary of the Russia-Belarus Union), family members of Russia’s first president Boris Yeltsin, head of the Swiss firm Mabetex Behgjet Pacolli and others, Interfax reports. Within the framework of the case, possible wrongdoings of the officials during the renovation of the Kremlin and a number of other important structures were investigated.
