Russia’s Defence Ministry regard as legitimate Yugoslavia’s demands to provide security in a 5km demilitarized (buffer) zone between Serbia and Kosovo. As colonel-general Leonid Ivashov, the ministry’s international military cooperation chief, puts it, “kfor forces do have to meet the demands of UN Security Council’s resolution No. 1244 and those of the military and technological agreement between Yugoslavia and NATO related to providing security guaranties for the inhabitants of Bujanovac, Medvedje, and Presevo,” Interfax reports.
