Germany is set to demand from Russia to repay its debts for supplies from East Germany (German Democratic Republic), German newspaper Hannoverische Algemeine Zeitung reports. The government of Helmut Kohl did pay companies of former GDR DM27.6bn hoping for the debtors to reimburse. Thus, in 1993, Hungary returned DM384m, Poland, DM250m. In 1995, Romania returned DM351m. Cuba (DM250m), Czechia (DM260m), and Slovakia (DM130m) also say they are ready to repay, IMA-Press reports.
