ULYANOVSK DIABETES PATIENTS LOOK UP TO MOSCOW

Yesterday, Russia hushed up the International Day of the Blind. Today, we are hushing up the International Day of Diabetes Patients. In the meantime, those patients are numerous across the country. For example, 25,000 of the patients are registered in the Ulyanovsk Region alone. According to Vera Nabegayeva, the region’s chief endocrinologist, diabetes treatment is relatively well established here. Most problems arise with free drugs. The point is that, according the Regiony Rossii news agency, the federal centre altogether stopped free preparation supplies for diabetes patients of the Ulyanovsk Region this year. So, those referred to as the underpaid are now the only free recipients here, while the rest have to put up their last savings to buy the vital insulin. Every five years the number of diabetes patients doubles in the region.
