Despite reassurances from Russia’s major utility Unifies Energies Systems not to cut off strategic sites, “Chubais’s nestlings” again and again get involved in the dangerous games with the switches. The latest conflict of this kind took place in Russia’s Far East. A brigade of power engineers arrived in the territory where a military unit was stationed with the order to cut it off for not paying power bills. However, 25 armed men stood up for the unit’s transformer. One of the soldiers yelled “stop or I will fire” and even did fire several warning shots in the air, Interfax reports. Following the incident, UES’s local branch Dalenergo laid claims to the Interior Ministry and Federal Security Service , but the conflict failed to be resolved.
