Dmitry Fedulov: USA help Russia to sell Russian AWACS to China

The discussion about the possible China’s acquisition of Russian military planes A-50, the analogue of American AWACS will be prolonged, Mikhail Kasianov said after the negotiations with Chinese leaders. At the beginning Israel was going to supply the equipment of this kind to China. Israel could get 250 million dollars for them. But USA managed to prevent this bargain. The official reason of the US protest was the fact the Israeli equipment could be used against American planes in case of the armed conflict between China and Taiwan. Moreover this bargain could contribute to the spread of the newest weapons in the Third World. At first Israel didn’t yield to USA pressure. But in the end of last month USA promised to render the additional financial assistance to Israel. And the Tel Aviv authorities agreed. As the saying goes, it’s for the better. Now Russia’s defence industry got one more chance to improve its financial position.
