In a period from January to September, 2000, 450 crimes were registered in Russia comparing with 436 ones in the same period 1999, including 64 acts of terrorism, 44 hostages captures, 907 cases of kidnapping, 11,100 facts of traffic violations. There were 85 assassinations. 265 crimes were registered this September, which is 9.0 per cent less that in the same period last year. RBC reports. 1.276m of crimes committed this year were referred to heinous ones. Their number reduced 8.7% as against the previous year. There is a 2.5 per cent growth in the amount of disclosed crimes this year. The percentage of disclosed crimes reached 77.1 per cent against 74.4 per cent in the previous year. 64.2 per cent of them fall at heinous crimes as against 61.7 per cent in the same period of 1999.
