In the north of Afghanistan fighting has continued between Taliban forces and the North Alliance. The fighting takes place to the East and North of the city of Talokan captured by Taliban in early September, independent sources report. According to Mohammed Habil, spokesman of Ahmad-shah Masud, opposition forces have captured some strategic heights near Talokan from which the city could be shelled. He also claimed restoring control of Sher-Han-Bandar in Kunduz province. At the same time, another high-ranking representative of the opposition has virtually confirmed the loss of several regions on Tadjikistan’s border, Reuters reports.
