TURKMENISTAN’S PRESIDENT GETS UKRAINIAN ORDER

Turkmenistan’s president Saparmurat Niyazov has been awarded the Ukraniane’s 1st degree Order of Yaroslav Mudry. The order was presented to him by Ukraine’s president Leonid Kuchma, RIA Novosti reports. In Mr. Kuchma’s words, it is a token of Ukrainian people’s deep appreciation”, and “Mr. Niyazov has been awarded for his enormous personal contribution in strengthening friendship between Turkmenistan and Ukraine” (both are former Soviet republics.
