An international conference titled Russia and European Union: Cooperation Strategy opened today in the city of Yekaterinburg. The conference is attended by researchers from the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Moscow State Institute of Foreign Relations, from the universities of Siberia and European Russia, CIS countries, Belgium, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, France and the U.S. The conference is supported by the Ministry of Domestic and International Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk region, the representative office of the Foreign Ministry of Russia in Yekaterinburg, the Association of European Studies, the Russian Association of International Research, the Association of Assistance to UN, the Association of European-Atlantic Cooperation, and UNESCO. The conference aims at allowing regional administrators, entrepreneurs, and reporters to become familiar with the condition, problems, and prospects of European cooperation.
