Moscow Cellular Communications reports increase in client base

The number of subscribers to the Moscow Cellular Communications (MCC), which operates on the NMT-450 standard, increased to about 90,000 in 2001, a source in the company reported. The source also noted that MCC was the first Russian cellular operator to receive a license for setting up a IMT-MC-450 digital network in Moscow and the Moscow region from the State commission for radio frequencies. After the construction of this network in Moscow and the surrounding region, which is expected to be completed in 2002 or 2003, MCC will be able to start rendering third-generation cellular services.
