Gazprom Might Face Criminal Charges

Over the next two weeks Moscow Tax Police will decide whether to press criminal charges against Gazprom. As the head of the Federal Tax Police Service, Moscow Division, Viktor Vasilyev informed today, Gazprom's financial analysis, commissioned by the Finance Ministry, was finished in February, but the results are still being scrutinised. As some of Gazprom's tax-avoiding manoeuvers Mr. Vasilyev mentioned lowering sales revenues, selling at prices below market and deducting the cost of gas for own use from the taxable income. The result of such actions was hundreds of millions of dollars less revenue for the State.
