Slavneft to invest $1bn in Belarus oil and chemical companies

Slavneft is planning to invest $1 billion into the privatization of oil and chemical companies of Belarus, Mikhail Gutsyriyev, Slavneft president, said at today's press conference in Yaroslavl after the ceremony of signing the agreement about cooperation with the Administration of the Yaroslavl region. According to Gutsyriyev, Slavneft has already prepared and submitted to the Belarus government a project for its participation in the privatization of the republic's oil and chemical companies. The Belarus government previously unveiled its plans to hold a tender for the privatization of the oil and chemical facilities of the republic beginning March 15, 2002. Gutseriyev pointed out that Slavneft's interests primarily lie in the Azot and Polimir companies.
