Cnina's Meats and Poultry Banned from Russia

Effective March 15 and until further notice, the Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation bans any imports of pork, beef or poultry from China. The issuing of permits for the import of these products from China was suspended on March 5. The decision was made by Mikhail Kravchuk, the Chief State Veterinary Inspector of the Russian Federation. The measure is due to the absence, at this time, of the necessary conditions for effective control of the quality of meats imported from China into the Russian Federation while Chinese authorities do not display any preparedness to cooperate as concerns the matter.
