USA: Thousands to die from effects of nuclear tests in 1950s

A Non-Government Organisation has released figures which claim that 80,000 cases of cancer will appear in the USA as a direct result of nuclear tests carried out in the 1950s.

The Institute for Energy and research on the Environment based its report on data released by the National Cancer Institute and Disease Control Centres in the United States of America. It is claimed that 15,000 of these cases will prove lethal and the statistics are based on people living in the USA between 1951 and 2000.
