Former security major complicates the relations between the USA and Ukraine

As PRAVDA.Ru has already reported, last Friday Ukraine’s Supreme Court refused to allow the claim from the Social party against the actions of the Central Electoral Committee, which rejected Nikolay Melnichenko’s registration as a candidacy, running for a position of a deputy. The USA ambassador to Ukraine, Carlos Pascual was invited to the Foreign Ministry the next day after that, on Saturday. At the meeting they paid Pascual’s attention to the fact that there was a provocation on February 8, in front of the building of Ukraine’s embassy in Washington – the action, that was planned before by the certain political forces. Mayor Melnichenko, the author of the notorious tape scandal, was in the center of that action.

Sergey Borodenkov, the chief of Ukraine Foreign Ministry’s press-service informed that Nikolay Melnichenko, the former mayor of the state security, said at the entrance to the diplomatic institution (being filmed by a group of the American and foreign journalists) that the US Ministry for Justice was persistently asking him for the materials of that notorious tape scandal. Melnichenko refused from any kind of contacts with the Ukrainian diplomats on the territory of the embassy. “There are no doubts that this was an attempt on the part of the certain political services to complicate the relations between Ukraine and the USA,” - Borodenkov said.
