Russia To Serve As Alternative Energy Source For Spain

Spain is interested in Russia's fuels as alternative energy sources, said Spanish Vice-Premier Rodrigo Rato, who is in charge of economic matters. He met Friday with his Russian counterpart Viktor Khristenko who arrived Thursday evening in Madrid for talks-both vice-premiers are co-chairmen of the Russian-Spanish inter-government commission on trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation. The two countries have maintained rather intense contacts based on certain agreements and prospects of the Spanish investment in Russia, enabling this country to repay Spanish loans, said the Spanish vice-premier. When Spain is to assume presidency in the European Union this April and May, a seminar on increased Spanish investment in Russia will take place.
