Russia, Indonesia Voice Readiness To Join Hands In Combating International Terrorism

The Foreign Ministers of Russia and Indonesia, Igor Ivanov and Hasan Wirayuda, expressed readiness to cooperate in the fight against international terrorism at their meeting which was held Friday as part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit now going on in Shanghai. As RIA Novosti knows from the information and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the sides spoke out in favour of consolidating efforts of the world community under the aegis of the United Nations with the aim of eradicating international terrorism and any kinds of extremism. Igor Ivanov and Hasan Wirayuda discussed in detail political settlement in Afghanistan and ways of developing bilateral contacts, and considered a number of global and regional problems. The two countries' Foreign Ministers also came up in favour of raising Russian-Indonesian strategic dialogue up on a higher level. They confirmed their countries' common approaches to ensuring security and stability in the world, including the Asia-Pacific region and South East Asia.
