In 2002, International Forum Of European Regions Will Be Held In Omsk

The administration of the Omsk Region has received information from the Switzerland that the Foundation for the Economy and Stable Development of the Regions of Europe (FEDRE) starts an information campaign in view of the coming International Forum of European Regions to be held in Omsk on June 17-18, 2002. The international organizations in Geneva, where the FEDRE headquarters is situated, and also in Brussels and Strasbourg will be informed about the event, because the Foundation has a consultative status in the Council of Europe. As RIA Novosti was told on Thursday in the press service of the Omsk regional administration, the decision on holding an international economic forum was taken at the recent meeting of FEDRE president Claud Haegi and governor of the Omsk Region Leonid Polezhayev. During his visit to Omsk, the Swiss guest signed with the Omsk governor the convention on partnership in the sphere of energy, saving and introduction of new technologies. The FEDRE will ensure the working out and implementation of the further program for developing the power industry aimed at preserving the environment and lessening pernicious effluents into the atmosphere. The Foundation intends to enlist the investment support of the Omsk program at the international level. For this reason it organizes the holding of the forum with the participation of leading Russian and foreign specialists in the sphere of politics and economics, as well as in the power industry and nature protection.
