Hippopotamus in rage kills two men

A hippopotamus has attacked and killed two fishermen in Mali. The enraged animal was disturbed by the fishermen in Koulikoro River, 50 km. from the capital, Bamako.

The two men were fishing in their pirogues, a traditional, simple vessel, when the hippopotamus turned the boats over and stamped on the men. It is believed that the attack was provoked by a decrease in fish stocks in recent weeks due to the lack of rains.
