Russia and the European Union have agreed, at their Brussels summit, to create a channel of operational interaction. Russia's Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and Javier Solana, EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, are going to have a permanent channel, according to sources in the Russian foreign ministry. The channel will be set up to prevent further crises, said the sources. Apart from that, the Brussels summit brought forth a decision to hold monthly meetings of the EU committee for foreign policy and security in Brussels, with the Russian ambassador participating.
